100g Chaga, 100g Reishi, and 100g Hericium

With this package, you are well prepared for the winter. It contains one jar of each of our mushroom specialties: Chaga, Hericium, and Reishi. I love every single one of these mushrooms this cold season:

  • Chaga: one of the most antioxidant foods on earth (if not the most powerful), Chaga coffee is ideal for warming up on those cold winter nights. Being naturally caffeine-free will help you unwind after a long week. Because it's so antioxidant, I take it when I'm feeling higher than usual levels of inflammation (e.g., after a tasty but not-so-healthy holiday meal). I also take it when overtraining at the gym after being away for a while. Since I tend to do both around the holiday season, Chaga is my favorite post-holiday recovery drink.
  • Hericium (Hedgehog's Mane or Lion's Mane): Hericium is good for the brain. Ingestion of this mushroom has been shown to improve cognitive abilities in humans(1). That's why I take it all year round. I like to mix it with warm soups. Its mild crab flavor goes very well with savory dishes. Whether it's pumpkin cream or miso, when I enjoy a soup, I elevate it to superfood status with a teaspoon of Hericium.
  • Reishi: I could talk about Reishi's many health and immune benefits, but in the winter, I mainly use Reishi as a spiritual drink. Traditional Chinese medicine regards Reishi as a mushroom of "spiritual balance." My modern training made me very skeptical about this idea. Still, after trying Reishi, I find that a daily ritual with this mushroom is the best way to ground and center myself. Every year, I use December to reflect on what I've learned over the past few months, to give thanks for all my blessings, and to decide what to let go of before New Year's Eve. The Reishi is the perfect companion for this process of reflection and purification. That's why Reishi is an integral part of my end-of-year ritual.
